I can’t think of a better way to introduce my new blog than with the beautiful pictures of Miss Holly. I’ve known Holly for the past 8 years and it has been so neat seeing her grow up, just like a sister to me. She is strong and bright. She loves Harry Potter (loves is probably an understatement). She is artistic and kind. Holly graduated from Blue Valley High School this past May and just started college and a new job! She is bound to do incredible things.

For this first part of Holly’s pictures we decided to venture downtown. Without a destination in mind, we were able to drive and let the city lead us. We stumbled across broken down rail cars, ivy covered walls, spectacular fountains and a patch of green grass in the middle of busy streets and towering buildings. It was awesome. I love that Holly brought her acoustic guitar and was willing to do anything I asked- including ending her shoot by running through the Crown Center fountains, leaving her soaked to the bone for the ride home. It’s session like these that make me realize how much I love the experiences and adventures captured in His image takes me on.

I always love a reason to have people over for good food & drinks! Recently, the Cline family had great reason to celebrate. In early June our baby pug, Isabelle, was hit by a car in front of our house. With lots of TLC, medicine, doctor’s visits and cage confinements she is finally walking again! We hosted a ‘strut your stuff’ party to show off our little gal and it was a lot of fun. Of course, I also had to take some pictures of our beautiful (and funny looking) basset-lab, lucy. Here’s to the pups, especially Isabelle- we are so glad you’re better little iz!

As much as I love taking pictures, I have to admit that seeing the end results is the really cool part of the process. Of course there are tons of amazing moments that happen during each shoot and excitement as I edit each picture, but there is something about holding the pictures in my hand that just make me say ‘wow’.

Last year I started adding ‘mini-prints’ to all of my packages. After the flurry of the photo shoot clients wait anxiously for access to their online galleries and for their captured package to arrive in the mail. This package includes several items one of which is a set of ‘mini-prints’. Each client receives 3-5 mini-prints, essentially 3-5 4×6 collages. These are perfect to stick in your purse or briefcase to show friends and family and the convenience is exactly why I started the program! Seeing as most photos are now digitally captured, more often than not we end up gathering people around our laptop to see our pictures instead of passing around a photo album. I love this, don’t get me wrong, i’d rather watch a picture slideshow than flip through a photo album. However, it is nice to be able to have a few hard copy photos on hand for the instances when you don’t have a computer readily accessible.

My goal with mini-prints is to highlight some of my favorite pictures from your session in a way that is really fun for you to share with others. Designing them, printing them and mailing them truly is one of my favorite parts of capturedinHisimage and I am excited to share a sample mini-print with you! As you have seen, Harrison & Hunter are both very handsome boys! Harrison and his momma decided to submit his head shots for a worldwide agency model search. I was excited when we first talked, head shots are my favorite and it is rare to find boys who are excited to have their pictures taken. Harrison was so easy to work with, great in front of the camera and very comfortable, all ideal for anyone going into ‘the biz’ and definitely a breath of fresh air for the photographer . During the shoot Hunter also hopped up for some head shots and did great also! I wish both of them the best, the agency would be crazy not to go after these awesome brothers!

Boys will be BOYS, and how glad I am for that! On a steamy Sunday evening I met the Gorsage boys for head shots and family pictures. Nervous at first knowing that taking pictures is probably not a favorite past time for most teens, I was quickly proven wrong. These two were AWESOME, they had the perfect balance of adventure & obedience and thus, we got some rockin’ shots. It was also very sweet to watch them smile and laugh at their mom who stood next to me throughout the shoot, some of their best smiles came out when they were looking at her. More soon of Harrison’s head shots but for now, enjoy the great energy of their photos!

How do kids grow up so fast? It feels like just yesterday Dalton and I were getting our shoes muddy outside on the first warm day after winter. Gracyn is already 6 months old (lots o’ pictures of her this session), still a serious little lady but willing to crack a few smiles, especially around her big brother.  These kiddos braved the 100+ temperatures for some fun outdoor pictures at their home in Wamego, KS. The new bench made a debut and was very popular, especially with Dalton (when we could get him to sit down… haha)! Can’t wait to see these little ones again in the fall for more pictures, I am sure I will be amazed yet again at how quickly they grow up =)

Last weekend I had the pleasure of meeting Nora & Tyson for a fun engagement session. This couple has such a neat story! They both grew up in the town of Herington, Kansas. “At first I really didn’t like him, and I let him know about it!” Nora shared. Now, years later, they are completely in love and planning a wedding for the summer of 2011. While we spent most of our time taking pictures at Linear Park (pictures coming soon!), it was only fitting that we started telling their story at the site of their engagement- Scenic Overlook.

After reminiscing about Nora & Tyson’s recent engagement at Scenic Overlook we moved their session to Linear Park. Having not explored the trail area before, I was grateful for such an adventurous couple! They were willing to not only climb on the train tracks but also “off road” into the pastures surrounding the trails. Thanks so much Nora & Tyson,  I look forward to seeing all the places your fairytale takes you!

I am very excited to welcome another precious little one to the capturedinHisimage family! You may remember Courtney & Jason from their beautiful maternity shoot in late May. Well, Tucker has arrived! He was born on June 26th and they are enjoying every minute with him. He was very interactive during our pictures and really loved the warm air outside = ) It will be so neat to watch Tucker grow over the next year through my ‘babies in bloom’ package, thank you for including me Courtney & Jason!

Yay, my first Kansas City shoot since I moved back to the area! Rose is one of my awesome co-workers at the Down Syndrome Guild and I was very excited when she asked if I would take she & Brandon’s maternity pictures. With little Sullivan expected to arrive any day now we ventured into Old Shawnee Town for a mini-shoot. I had never been to this area and really enjoyed the historical buildings- very fun for pictures! Thank you Rose & Brandon, I can’t wait to meet little Sullivan when he arrives!
