Well…. HAPPY NEW YEAR! Can you believe 2011 is already here? Whew! Not only is it here, but we are already 1 week in! I was so blessed to ring in the New Year with great people, gathered in Manhattan, KS for the New Years Day wedding of two wonderful friends. What better way to ring in the New Year than with a brand new marriage?! It was pretty awesome,
As I move into 2011 I can’t help but look back at 2010 in awe. Personally & professionally, 2010 was pretty incredible. There were a lot of incredibly difficult times and there were a lot of incredibly amazing times. Throughout the year my reoccurring realization was that God really is ever-present, ever-constant, ever-loving and ever-providing. In moments of both elated celebration and fearful unknown, these things always remained at the forefront of my mind. I can’t wait to see what He has in store for all of us in the year ahead. I continue to surrender captured in His image over to His control and plan, trusting that He is in control![]()
I can’t look back at 2010 without reflecting on all of the truly incredible clients that helped grow the captured in His image family. There are soooo many moments that absolutely took my breath away during my time with these individuals. The trend among photographers the past couple of weeks has been to post a year-in-review favorites post of some kind. Obviously, I am joining in on this, but my favorite photos may be a bit different. Although composition, light, background, perspective etc. are all very important to me when I go into a session, it always ends up that the sloppy kiss a two year old plants on his momma’s lips at the very end or the high pitched, throw your head back laugh a girl lets out when her fiance tickles her to make her smile end up being my favorite photos. They may not be perfect but I never fail to fall in love with them.
Enjoy this journey back through 2010 with a little bit about why these photos represent just a few of my favorite moments of the 10,000 + I captured last year (wow…God is good)!

Ainslie Rose....believe it or not we were sitting on the couch in the living room just hanging out and I snapped this photo one handed while wiping spit-up. Gotta love life with little ones!

This picture happened completely on accident- I think I actually dropped my lens cover on the rocks and bent down to pick-it up and took this shot while I was down. I love this family and this picture![]()

Oh Miss Mads....keeping you in this window may have caused me to almost have a heart attack, but I just can't get enough of your boots and tutu!

5 degree temperatures +2 beautiful sisters +taking a chance on a huge K-State light pole= one fun picture!

Some of my most humbling moments in 2010 took place when I was blessed with the opportunity to photograph our men and women in uniform. Like father, like son![]()

I love the freedom captured in this photo- fly Dalton, fly! He really knows how to 'Celebrate Life With Down syndrome"!

So thankful I was able to take engagement pictures for my friend from high school, Darcey. She and her now-husband braved the snowy plaza last January for some great shots
!

I absolutely LOVE this family. This session was pretty crazy- the kids were moving in a million different directions and it was super hot outside. Somehow, amidst the madness, we got this great shot of the beautiful Stelk girls and I just love it (and them)!

The look Rose is giving Brandon says it all![]()

An impromptu family picnic at a quiet camp ground in Illinois. Yep, that's where we are in this picture! Nothing glamorous about the setting but beautiful Lola just made it perfect

A simple summer wedding at home and a kiss from mom before hitting the aisle, sigh![]()

Two great friends from K-State Singers and a beautiful October evening- couldn't have asked for more!

Simply in awe of the sacrifice made every day by our military men/women and their families....

Love.

I brought this mini-ottoman from a bedroom at our house on a whim. Five minutes after I arrive baby Beckett was sound asleep in his backyard on top, wrapped in one of his mama's scarves. 7 day old bundle of joy..."wow" was about all I could think when I looked down and my camera review screen and saw this photo.

Life after graduation is....insert adjective... I feel like this picture is all encompassing![]()

Looking towards the future with excited anticipation for the arrival of their baby boy....amazing!

One day you wake up and your baby sister isn't a baby anymore. Instead, she's a beautiful, talented woman. And here she is, staring right into my lens and blowing me away![]()

"Our love is comfortable". I love the genuineness of this photo.

Everybody loves fall, even the leaves!

First family picture with baby Braden for a great friend and mentor![]()

K-State: where lovers meet![]()

I'm never sure what kids are going to do when I hand them these little flags. Barrett waved it energetically and somwhow we got this great shot of the whole family! Love!

I love everything about this picture, especially the fact that i had nothing to do with it (except taking it, of course
).

A week old and already so curious, God's creation is incredible.

They may have been shivering on this cold October morning but it was all worth it for this fabulous sillhouette shot!

Are you tricked into believing they are this serene and loving all of the time? Good, then my work here is done![]()

There's just nothing like geting a kiss from the love of your life

Our first family picture in several years, so thankful!
