  • Thank you for swinging by captured in His image Photography! My name is Laura and I am the girl behind the camera. I am a new bride to my best friend since high school, Jordan. We live in Manhattan, Kansas where I work for my alma mater, Kansas State University. I love mac n' cheese, cartoons, traveling, Aldi brownie mix (it's the best!), theater, Disney, enjoying a glass of wine with good friends, thrift shopping, Jesus....and anything else that brings adventure into our everyday life!

captured in His image Photography is at the center of my heart. This journey began two years ago and has been the most challenging i've ever faced. I am humbled with each stumbling block and encouraged with each 'ah-ha!'. Being invited in to life's most intimate moments by people who start as strangers and quickly become friends has to be the most amazing experience ever. I believe that all of us are on a unique journey and that photos are a truly beautiful way to capture God's presence, purpose and blessings in our lives.

I hope you enjoy the photos and stories archived on this page-they are a mix of captured in His image and my own life. Thanks again for visiting. I'm so glad you're here!

capturedinHisimage Mini-Prints

August 2010

As much as I love taking pictures, I have to admit that seeing the end results is the really cool part of the process. Of course there are tons of amazing moments that happen during each shoot and excitement as I edit each picture, but there is something about holding the pictures in my hand that just make me say ‘wow’.

Last year I started adding ‘mini-prints’ to all of my packages. After the flurry of the photo shoot clients wait anxiously for access to their online galleries and for their captured package to arrive in the mail. This package includes several items one of which is a set of ‘mini-prints’. Each client receives 3-5 mini-prints, essentially 3-5 4×6 collages. These are perfect to stick in your purse or briefcase to show friends and family and the convenience is exactly why I started the program! Seeing as most photos are now digitally captured, more often than not we end up gathering people around our laptop to see our pictures instead of passing around a photo album. I love this, don’t get me wrong, i’d rather watch a picture slideshow than flip through a photo album. However, it is nice to be able to have a few hard copy photos on hand for the instances when you don’t have a computer readily accessible.

My goal with mini-prints is to highlight some of my favorite pictures from your session in a way that is really fun for you to share with others. Designing them, printing them and mailing them truly is one of my favorite parts of capturedinHisimage and I am excited to share a sample mini-print with you! Below is an actual image of  a 4×6 mini-print from the train track portion of  Nora & Tyson’s recent engagement shoot.

Thanks for reading this post, I am always excited to share insights with you and of course, your creative ideas are welcome! Leave a comment on this post if you wish =)
